Important New Regulations (Effective July 2023):

• GP Referral Required: All patients seeking a consultation for cosmetic surgery must first obtain a referral from their General Practitioner.

• 7-Day Cooling-Off Period: Following your initial consultation and the signing of any consent forms, a mandatory minimum cooling-off period of seven days applies before your surgery can be booked or any deposit paid.

• Patient Assessment: You will be required to attend at least two pre-operative consultations, including an in-person evaluation of your psychological suitability for surgery.

Understanding the Risks & Recovery

Cosmetic and reconstructive surgery involves significant recovery time and potential complications including, but not limited to:

• Medicare: Most cosmetic-only procedures do not attract a Medicare rebate.

• Private Health: Coverage varies by fund and clinical necessity (e.g., reconstructive vs. aesthetic).
