WiFi is available for patient use. Please ask a member of the Administration staff for access
Television and Foxtel
Televisions with DVD players and Foxtel are provided to all patients.
Each patient has his/her own telephone and local calls are free.
Mail is distributed daily to wards. Outgoing mail is posted daily.
Newspapers are delivered to the hospital daily and can be collected from Reception.
This hospital is a smoke-free environment. For the comfort of the patients and to assist with a speedy recovery, patients and visitors are requested not to smoke in the hospital or on hospital grounds.Smoking is not only a health hazard, but can be a potential fire hazard in hospitals.
Toiletries are available for purchase from the chemist. Please ask your Registered Nurse to arrange for delivery.
Wine is offered on the dinner menu. Alcohol in moderation is permitted only with your doctor’s permission and when not contra-indicated by medication or other treatment.
Representatives of all denominations may be contacted through the Registered Nurse.
Justice of the Peace
Similarly, should you require the services of a Justice of the Peace, your Registered Nurse will make enquiries on your behalf. Hospital staff are not permitted to ‘witness’ documentation.
Attractively presented and nutritionally balanced meals are a feature of Delmar Private Hospital. A qualified dietitian is also available if you have any special dietary needs.
Delmar Private Hospital has a Food Safety Plan prepared in accordance with the NSW Food Authority, and have been allocated an A rating.
To ensure our menu is safe and hygienic there are certain high risk foods that will not be served, such as:
- Foods containing raw or partially cooked eggs
- Chilled seafood such as raw oysters, smoked or ready to eat salmon or ready to eat cooked prawns
- Soft cheeses such as brie, camembert, fetta and blue vein
- Pate, liverwurst or other meat spreads
- Certain fresh produce that cannot be easily washed and sanitised
It is requested that visitors do not bring in the high risk foods outlined above.
Delmar Private Hospital has provider agreements with the Department of Veteran Affairs, and all major Health Funds, who will cover your treatment costs depending on your level of cover.
Once we have received your referral we can provide you with an estimate of any out-of-pocket expenses you may be responsible for. All out of pocket expenses must be paid prior to your discharge.
Prior approval is required for compensable patients i.e. WorkCover, Third Party.
A holding deposit is required on admission for all patients, this is to cover any added expenses such as x-rays, pharmacy or phone calls that might be raised during hospitalisation.
If you do not have private health insurance please contact our Administration team prior to your admission to obtain an estimate of the cost of your stay. The whole estimate is required to be paid on admission.
Our hospital staff are highly skilled and caring professionals, working together to create a ‘home away from home’ ambience for our patients.
What to bring for your stay

- Night attire, dressing gown and slippers (this is not applicable for Day surgery procedures)
- Comfortable day clothes, including walking shoes
- Swimsuit for hydrotherapy
- Personal toiletries (not applicable for Day surgery procedures)
Delmar Private Hospital now runs a scheduled car service for patients. Our trained staff will take you from your home to Delmar Private Hospital. This service runs Monday to Friday. For further information contact us.
