Due to a special interests in breast, laparoscopic and general surgery Dr Vasica is committed to maintaining a broad range of surgical skills and also holds a number of private and public surgical appointments as well as a number of on call surgical rosters. Dr Vasica is the Clinical Supervisor of training for the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons at Hornsby Ku-ring-gai and Mona Vale District Hospitals and Deputy Chair of the NSW/ACT Surgical Training Committee for the College of surgeons; a committee that reviews all of the Surgical Trainees in NSW and their progress as well as the manner in which General Surgical training is delivered and assessed in order to produce the highest standard surgical trainees and surgeons for the future. Dr Vasica also holds the post of lecturer and clinical tutor at the Northern Clinical Network and SAN Clinical School of Medicine teaching both clinical examination and communication skills.
Common procedures that Dr Vasica performs include (but are not limited to) breast surgery, varicose veins, haemorrhoidectomy, ingrown toenails, vasectomies, pilonidal sinus surgery, lipoma’s and skin lesions (benign and malignant) and colonoscopies. Dr Vasica also performs laparoscopic procedures such as appendectomies, hernia repairs (open and laparoscopic) and cholecystectomy (gallbladder removal). In addition to this, she has a particular interest in major abdominal surgery including bowel resections and laparotomies.
Dr Vasica is local to the Mona Vale area and committed to remaining within the Northern Sydney area for the duration of her career. Dr Vasica is able to provide a service to all residents of the Northern Beaches through participation in the emergency on-call roster and elective lists at Mona Vale District and Hornsby Ku-ring-gai Hospitals. In addition to rooms in Mona Vale’s Bungan Street Tower she also consults from sessional rooms in Hornsby and at the Sydney Adventist Hospital in Wahroonga. Private patients may elect to have surgery with Dr Vasica via permanent elective lists at both Delmar Private Hospital and the Sydney Adventist Hospital.

Assoc. Prof. Robert Wilson is a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons and American College of Surgeons.
Associate Professor Wilson graduated from the University of NSW Medical School in 1988 with first class honours. He completed resident and basic surgical training at St Vincent’s Hospital and then trained at Prince of Wales hospital in the Royal Australian College of Surgeons Fellowship program. He completed surgical registrar rotations at Prince Henry, Sutherland, Tamworth, Prince of Wales and Bankstown hospitals and was awarded the FRACS in 1996. He then worked as the Surgical Fellow at the Prince of Wales and Bankstown hospitals.
In 1998-9 Dr Wilson was appointed as the Lister Fellow in Upper GI surgery at the Glasgow Royal Infirmary in Scotland. He gained expertise in Laparoscopic Upper GIT Surgery, Laparoscopic Hernia Surgery, HPB surgery, ERCP and therapeutic endoscopy. He was appointed as Consultant Upper Gastrointestinal and General Surgeon to Liverpool Hospital in 1999 and Bankstown Hospital in 2001. He continued his interest in Laparoscopic and Endoscopic Surgery, research and teaching.
He was appointed to the position of Conjoint Associate Professor at the UNSW in 2011. Associate Professor Wilson is committed to providing a high quality surgical service to the Northern Beaches Community. The SIOS clinic at Delmar Hospital provides a convenient and skilled service for both General Surgery and Bariatric patients. This includes bariatric dietician, nursing, and life coaching specialists to assist patients in their successful weight loss program.
Dr Joel Budge - General Surgeon
Dr Joel Budge BSc (Med) MBBS FRACS
Dr Budge is a General Surgeon with extensive experience in abdominal surgery, using both open and laparoscopic techniques. Joel has been associated with the Sydney Hernia Clinic since 1999, when as a senior medical student he audited the Clinic’s work as part of a research project, in the spirit of the Clinic’s Total Quality Management (Kaizen) principles. Dr Budge graduated from the University of New South Wales, with Honours, in 2000. His early career was spent in Western Sydney and in various parts of western New South Wales. He has worked in both pediatrics and adult surgical settings, and found an early niche in the developing specialty of laparoscopic colorectal surgery.
Dr Budge also obtained extensive experience of acute general surgical practice at Nepean Hospital. He undertook research in the nature of common bile duct stones, before completing his Royal Australasian College of Surgeons Fellowship examinations in 2011. Opportunities to further develop his skills in Colorectal Surgery presented themselves in Canberra, Liverpool and Wollongong Hospitals in 2012-2014, where Joel worked with a wide variety of experienced specialists bringing a wealth of collective experience. Joel continued at Wollongong in 2015 as a Fellow in Upper Gastrointestinal Surgery, giving him a unique, holistic appreciation of and experience in modern abdominal surgery. He has also held a number of locum Consultant Surgeon roles in New South Wales, Victoria and Western Australia.
Dr Budge brings a wide and varied experience to SIOS and the Sydney Hernia Clinic, offering services including, but not limited to, endoscopy, cholecystectomy, small bowel and colorectal surgery, open and laparoscopic hernia repairs, including services to patients suffering from obesity. Dr Budge’s emphasis is on providing work of exceptional quality in the setting of warm, clear, open and accessible communication
